My Background

Dr Pierre Jakobus Ehlers (MBChB/ F.C.Orth.S.A.). I was in Paarl Boys High School in Paarl. I played first team rugby and was South African champion in Judo. I went on to study medicine at Stellenbosch University. I played rugby for Stellenbosch under 19 and under 20. I did my internship at Tygerberg Hospital. 
I started my orthopaedic speciality at Groote Schuur hospital in 1999. After specializing I joined Professor Hosking in Orthopaedic Oncology. I gained experience in this field by doing surgery at Groote Schuur Hospital and Vincent Pallotti hospital for the past 17 years. I also did orthopaedic trauma surgery with the Cape Orthopaedic Trauma group for the past 17 years. I attended many congresses in orthopaedic oncology.  I attended ISOLS meetings in Hamburg, Bologna, Beijing and Boston. In Hamburg I presented a paper on proximal femoral replacement with the Advantage Cup.
I do primary hip replacements and total knee replacement with computer assistance. I also do revision hip and knee replacements. I have a passion for my work and my post operative follow up is outstanding. 
Due to Covid my secretary works remotely but she is passionate about her work and would arrange appointment any time. Her name is Pauline Lewis.
